We have met the rangers of the turtle foundation in 2006 while on a diving trip in Sangalaki, Borneo Indonesia. We were shocked when we saw the data of the rangers that the number of turtles that were breeding on the island was dropped by 50% compared to the year before.
Why does Marinedream want to support the Turtle project?
Marinedream is mainly focused on educational programs and we want to work with small NGO's that do work in the field.The turtle Foundation is based in Berau and has connections with local NGO's in Bali and Borneo. We believe that by supporting the turtles in Sangalaki we also support the survival of other species.
The turtle foundation focus is mainly on research and protection. Funding through this website will go to the Turtle Foundation who will hire rangers. We will also look into spending your donation into education of the local villagers, because after all education is key to a sustainable solution.
