Aqualife is set up as an online series for youth between 10-15 years of age. In this program we focus on
conservation of our water environment.
In part I of the series we show the students the coral reef and they learn about, whalesharks, seahorses and other exiting animals. This program is available online since May 2008. The program is available in English, Dutch and Chinese.
In short, the concept of Aqualife is based on:
Aqualife places themes as Climate Change, Water Pollution and Biodiversity in the context of the Coral Reef and give directions to the students what they can do to help. All actions are recorded in the projectlogbook, which the students present when they finish the program. |
Aqualife is a hands-on, multimedia based educational program that allows students to learn about the complexity of nature and marine conservation issues while developing team skills. |
Aqualife is unlike standard curricula that use isolated facts, figures and testing techniques to learn about science and our environment. In stead we use a holistic approach by placing marine life and conservation issues in a social/economic framework. |
Aqualife is delivered via eight specially designed modules and gives a team assignment and knowledge test at the end of each module. Grading is based on the scores of assignment and a knowledge test. Based on the end score of 8 modules the students are rewarded with a piece of a virtual ocean with a level of marine life depending on the score. |
Aqualife is a web-based program that is a virtual community wherein students, teachers can communicate/discuss with each other and experts in the field trough email and chatting. |
Aqualife is a multi media program that is supported by narration (audio), photos, text and videos that brings the experience of learning into a new dimension. |
